The First One

2023-04-16

There is something to starting a place for yourself that is unnecessarily difficult. I’m not sure if there’s a name for it, and I’m certainly not going to Google it in the middle of writing out my thoughts rapid fire as I think of them. In fact I doubt that this post will stay up for very long. It’s not that I’m ashamed of it per say, rather, I just find that this is going to be useless information.

Back to the first sentence. A blank canvas is (in my opinion) about 300% more difficult to work with that one with a couple lines drawn on it for you to begin, your mind can work with these lines as if you’re coloring in the lines inside that dinosaur book you loved so much as a kid. This means that the first step of any type of work, especially a creative one, is the hardest. This is why it took so long for me to figure out what exactly I was trying to do with this website, with TTRPGs in general. However now that I’ve discovered the wonder that is an in depth look at worldbuilding and the processes with which a whole system of cultures, civilizations, and traditions are developed to your tastes. So now I’ve decided to match the base type of Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition with my new world. Changes to the rules may fall closer to other systems such as the Fate system or to Pathfinder 2e but I found too much fun modifying the rules themselves, so even against great advice I won’t change from one premade system to another, instead I’ll be taking a far more unreasonable path, Ship of Theseusing my way into a nonsense type of TTRPG of my own design. This site will hopefully represent my world and the posts I make will explain my decisions on which things change along with my reasons for doing so.

So, this makes this post not really a true post but merely a couple lines on a blank canvas. The only thing I can hope for is that a person (myself or otherwise) that sees this in the future can make their own decision to go ahead and drop a couple lines/sentences/maps/etc. onto their canvas. I’ll end this one with wishes of good fortune. Seems as unimpactful as anything else this myopic brain of mine can come up with.
